We adopted Regina from the Colorado Foothills shelter on Sunday.
We wanted to let you know she is in a loving home with 3 kids and another female puppy. They have been playing nonstop and even sharing a doggie bed. We have renamed her Freyja. She has her forever home!
Thank you Jeni and your family! It means so much to know our Texas Transports end up being part of wonderful families.
Hi, wanted to let you know that I adopted Joy now named Rosie. She’s doing well. I'm recently divorced living in a big house and I'm so happy to have her. I can't wait to get her out hiking and on walks. Thanks for taking care of her - I appreciate it!
I extended my fence in the back yard this weekend. Rosie seems to like it out there. For the first time that I got Rosie, she finally let me out of her sight. She was in the back yard chewing on a bone and didn't seem to mind being alone. I love Rosie at my side, but hope she learns to be a little more independent with time. This weekend I'm going to take her camping. We'll see how she does in a tent!
Hi, got back from camping with Rosie. She did great! Was able to let her off leash. She would wonder away after a little while, but always came back once I called her. She also did good sleeping in a tent – I just wish she ate her breakfast a little later than 6am. :)
Thank you Jim for adopting Rosie and giving her the home/love she deserves. It means so much to us to know she is safe, happy and loved. We want this for all the dogs we send to Colorado and feel blessed that your state is so dog friendly and responsible.
We hope Rosie bring you lots of Joy!
Ringo was adopted by David & Carl. He joins Copper ( ASVT transport) that they adopted from Foothills last year.
We just wanted to send you a few pictures of Ringo and Copper. Ringo is adjusting very well now! He and Copper continue to have a great time every day. We are very thankful for you sending them both up to Colorado, so that they could become part of our family. Here are a few pictures of the two of them!
David & Carl
*Thank you guys for adopting Ringo and Copper. It brings us so much joy to know that these dogs are in their forever homes!
I had been searching high and low for a second Catahoula Leopard Dog to join my family. On a rescue page, I saw this little guy who was at a shelter in Texas for over a month, and I just had to have him! After speaking with the shelter, I had the help of a rescue group work with me thru all the details. They willingly adopted him for me and boarded him until I made arrangements to transport him from Texas to California, where I anxiously waited. When Doc Holliday showed up on my porch, I could tell he was going to be a firecracker! He immediately ran to the food bowl and stole his new brother’s kibble. All of it! He quickly made himself right at home. I already have a 9 month old Catahoula mix named Wyatt Earp. A little over a month after having the new pup, c are inseparable, and my heart is filled with so much love for them. The two pups would wrestle and chase each other all day and thru the night if I let them! Doc Holliday loves his toys, treats, his big brother Wyatt Earp, and kids (kids are my dogs favorite people). Some of his favorite activities include tug o’ war, hiking, playing with other dogs, people, EATING, barking at his big brother when he is losing at a game of chase, tracking dirt into the house (but I don’t mind), and giving those sweet puppy kisses. I would say he is one lucky pup, but I think I am the luckier one to have such an amazing pup complete my family.
Special thanks to Chris from Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas, who was an amazing help when adopting my boy!
Thank you Becky for the update on him and for giving him a forever home!
Happy Tail update on Soldier
It’s been a while since the last Soldier Update so thought you might all like to know how he is doing. I have to say he is our little Prince. His hair has all grown back and he shows it off proudly. He is so well behaved and so smart. He lets me know when he needs to go outside in his own little way. He loves to chase Otis the squirrel and Otis is realizing that he jumps higher than Bobby McGee does. He literally flies around the yard chasing whatever is flying around. He has brought so much joy into our lives. He loves his sisters and they love him. Even Katy my little 14 year old “growly girl” wrestles around with him.
He is our little Welcome Ambassador when friends, family, the plumber or the cable guy comes through the front door. I recently had friends from Minnesota visit and he won their hearts and sat in their lap the whole time they were here.
He is my little shadow. He stays in his little bed next to me in my art room when I’m working on a project. Katy and Bobby McGee come in also but after a while they get bored and move on to other things.
I made his birthday November 11 which was the first day I met him. That date also happens to be Bobby McGee’s birthday as that is the date we first met her two years ago. I truly believe that my husband, from Heaven, orchestrated all the sequence of events that brought Soldier to me. Unknowingly I needed him and he needed me! Thanks Kathy for suggesting that I foster him.
Here are some pictures of the little face that brightens my day, every day!
Update from October 2014 transport.
Happy Tail - Domino
We adopted Domino in October from foothills animal shelter in golden CO. He is doing great and fits right in just like your description said he would! Here is a picture of him when we brought him mountain biking. It was hard to get him to pose because he just wanted to run so much!
Max and Ally
Thank you Max and Ally for adopting Domino. This is the life we imagine for our dogs that come to Colorado.
UPDATE from February transport
Happy Tail: Paige (Spoticus)
We were at the Foothills Animal Shelter, Golden Colorado on Feb.5th and saw Spoticus. She seemed to
be a great fit for us. She was spayed on Feb 6th and we adopted her and brought her home.
Today we saw the vet and she says, she is healthy and will be a good dog for us..... We are happy with her and everyone is adjusting. There are 2 Manx cats, 3 years old, in our home also. Paige gets very excited when they pass by, although after 6 days, she is much calmer and so are Skeeter and Sheba The vet said she is a 1 year old, American dog, born in the USA!!!.
She is a very sweet girl!!!
Thanks Dianna and Lewis
Thank you Dianna and Lewis for adopting Paige! We are so happy to hear she has a loving home.
Thank you Lisa for fostering her! Fosters make these transports possible to save lives.
We adopted Nikki on Feb 4th from Foothills Animal Shelter. She is a great addition to our family. We have a 12 y/o black lab and a 13 y/o cat. She has fit in nicely. She has an awesome park nearby to take walks, has several lakes, she can't wait to get in the water. Her training is going well, she learns quickly. We made a perfect choice adopting Nikki. Thanks, Irene P
Thank you Irene for adopting Nikki and giving her the home she deserves!
Thank you Kathy B. for fostering Nikki
On Dec 9, 2014 we received our little 4 pound puppy. I said “What a Lucky Puppy you are gone to be”. It did not take me long to figure out, that it was not Wizard that was the Lucky one but it was Me. He is such a silly playful puppy and we love him so very much. It took me some time to make this decision to have another puppy because we lost 2 very dear pets. My husband is the one that said lets go get 2 more to love. One day I called my friend and told her I was thinking about getting a puppy for my husband birthday. She showed me pictures of 7 little puppies and my heart ached. I knew I had to get “My Husband” one of the puppies to love. Well here we are Feb 4, 2015>>> 25.3 pounds of Big Loving Joy. I do not say my husband’s puppy anymore it, is Our Happy New Home with the Wizard. I looked forward every day to my good morning kisses and the joy he has brought to Our Home.
Thanks to all the caring people who love these pets and place them in A Place Called Home!
ASVT thanks Patty for saving this boy! We also have send a BIG thank you to Bobbie (Patty's friend) for all she does to Help Us Help Them!
